Hey... I happened to drop by ur blog again after ages..
Heh, so coincidental that alina also just left a msg.
Wow... , your blog is inspiring. so happy, idealistic/hopeful, loving and innocent. :P

Just to say that..mm.. you just stay as who you are.. well, people sometimes tend to get jealous of others who seem to be doing well and are happy. Uh, even I have been in the jealous camp. :P But really, at the end of the day, it's something for them to reflect upon. I do not think there is anything wrong at all that u should choose to be thus happy and open about feelings.

I mean, better than fake modesty? :P
(might I add that I think there's something wrong with the Ngee Ann culture of seemingly "ostracising" pple with better grades. Are they pressured to display over-modesty for the sake of gaining acceptance? It seems to me to be a deterring factor for one to excel. :P)

I guess, although school can get pretty competitive, as long as u do ur best and help others along (fighting the same O level battle), nobody can say anything about u. Of cos if gloat too much or appear selfish, or insensitive to pple feeling very bad abt their results n they r sitting nearby, then not too good, but otherwise, it's perfectly fine. :P

It's admirable that u can actually smile back at them with no bad intentions/thoughts, mm, that's nice (n courageous).

About your fren wanting to quit band, mm.. u might be right abt him probably gonna be wasting time playing anyway. However, sometimes we aren't ourselves very good judges of how others should lead their lives. If someone wants to quit, and with O levels looming near, well, it's also not that great an idea to keep someone whose heart doesn't want to be there. :P?

About the 2 men... erm.. heheh. What inspired that question?
Anyway.. haha.. I think this logic is a lil flawed. Firstly, I am doubtful about the assumption that rich and smart people necessarily have more time for leisure, and that poor people slog all their lives and have no time for leisure.
Many smart people who get rich, well, such as lawyers and businessmen, actually spend most of the time doing and thinking about their work. The higher position you are in, the more liable u are to more people, the less rest and more stress you get. Some of these people prob sell their lives/social lives to the corporations.
As for the "stupid and poor", well, perhaps look around at the erm, for eg, road sweepers, etc? They do not necessarily spend more time working, and they need not think about work after work hours.

But then, to answer your question with its presumptions, there are the "smart and rich" and "stupid and poor" people too, read "Rich Dad Poor Dad".
It depends on what you yourself define as "success" and what you want in life.
If the poor man realli did his best but unfortunately that's his max potential, but however he is still able to provide help for the less fortunate, then to mi he seems quite a success. he would win the love of e people around him as well.

For the rich and almost amoral person, he might have gained all the riches, but might be feeling empty and lacking in love. He might appear successful in the social scene, but at the end of the day he gotta ask himself whether he achieved all that he wanted.
N did he manage to contribute positively to society and humankind? If not, it appears there isnt that much success to rave about, then. :P all depends on ur perspective.

hatred ah... i think it could be due to jealousy too. even i envy you sometimes if you see someone so happy and as focused as you can get and you're insecure about your own value as a person, it seems reasonable to lead to dislike. okay, shall stop speculating. i doubt they would if you could know you just a little, though. you share your light quite generously, and joining in the joy is always better than hating it by any means.
whee.

Hmm. 'Affluent' should be used for money only. Rich can apply to more things than money. But it makes a nice metaphor.
