April 23rd, 2006» Orientation
- 1:23 pm
Last week was a busy, and very tiring, week. It was TP‘s school, applied science, orientation. However, the programme is, other than the many many unoriginal cheers and somewhat interesting storyline and theme, really nothing amusing.
Well, I did find out some “educational” facts about the school though:
- Mensa2 Foodcourt in TP has 144 chairs.
- There are a total of 2 BBQ pits in the campus.
- Engineering school has 10 vending machines.
- A painting, “Right Angle”, exists in design school.
As well as some not-so-educational “facts” about the school:
- TP has 30 football fields as said by the CM.
- It’s a 1 km walk from the school to the reservoir as said by the emcee.
Well, perhaps the most important thing I learned from the 3 days orientation is that the food in the brand new air-conditioned canteen in AS are expensive. Which is told by my friend long ago and reinforced again and again by the OLs and CP.
Anyway, despite saying all that, I’m still looking forward to my week 1 starting on monday. I’ve had enough of slacking.

April 7th, 2006» Working things out
- 6:40 pm
My application to Chemical Engineering in Temasek Polytechnic was successful. I feel more settled down with my life now that there’s something, finally, for me to look forward to. Life’s dull staying at home staring into empty spaces everyday.
Well, tomorrow’s alumni practice won’t be as cool as before due to many people, mainly the Meridian JC bunch because of their band camp, not turning up. I do feel kinda left out but I’ll get over it soon.
I believe I will sound horrible tomorrow as I’ve not been practising on my flute.
Anyway, HSCB will be playing “Dancing in The Wind – Kaze No Mai” instead of “AIRS for wind orchestra” for the coming competition. Upon hearing this, I can’t help but to feel worried for them. Frankly speaking, even MJCSB have yet to really master the song. It will be a miracle HSCB will play it well. Who knows? Miracles do happen.

February 11th, 2006» Release of O’ Level Results
- 1:12 am
First of all, I shall extend a big congratulation to all my juniors who had done well for their O’ Levels. Well done people!
As for those who did not do as well or feel that they could do better, don’t be too upset. Once you enter the other phase of your life, you may find that there are things far more important than a certificate of academic excellence.
I remember the same day last year. When I’ve gotten my results, my heart sank. I did, relatively, badly compared to my peers eventhough it’s enough to secure a place in my college. Indeed, I was very upset and disappointed. That, however, did not last very long. I soon realised that the result slip is only a ticket to move on in life.
In college, it doesn’t matter if you do well or not previously. One can do very well during O’ Level but badly in college. It all boils down to the amount of effort one is willing to put in.
What’s ultimately important now is the future.
