Ramblings

I almost always fall sick during this time of chinese new year. Too much heaty stuffs’ not exactly healthy for the throat. I’m even running a fever now.
Anyway, I feel that this new year festival is really boring to me. Visiting is minimal and it’s not as exciting as it is to be receiving red packets when I was younger.
During the first day, my sis and I, and some cousins, were self-entertaining ourselves by watching DVD, Legend, while my older relatives were gambling in the kitchen. Well, at least the show wasn’t that bad. However, half the time I did not know what the show was talking about when other languages, other than english and chinese, were used.
Second day was horrible. We were at my fifth aunt’s house. I felt so left out. Again, they were gambling at the kitchen. There weren’t much entertainment for me around. The television programme was not interesting at all. So, I alternated between standing in the kitchen watching them gamble, and pretending to be interested, and sitting in the living room eating the peanuts.
Well, the more interesting part was actually visiting Daniel’s house on that night. We were supposed to have an overnight movie marathon of horror movies thingy. That, however, wasn’t very successful. It ended up that only Daniel, Xinhui and me were left after first half of the first movie, the Maid. Apparently, that’s the only horror movie available that night. It’s actually quite good although I did not think it’s scary at all. After that, we watched Drumline. I’ve watched it many times over and over again but I still find the show great. The best part was when the whole band played “Flight Of Blumble Bee”. I guess many band members’ jaw would have dropped during that part.
Anyway, Daniel was already half sleeping at that point of time. So, we didn’t go on to watch the third movie. We chatted for awhile. Daniel, then, fell asleep, leaving Xinhui and I to carry on with the conversation till morning.
I skipped visiting the next day and gave the excuse that I’m too tired.
